Welcome to Teachers of India!
The Teachers of India Portal aims to create a vibrant community of teachers through the sharing of knowledge and experience on a common platform. The range of teaching and learning resources available to teachers on the portal will enrich their knowledge of subject content and pedagogy, demonstrate new approaches to classroom practice and provide concrete support in the form of teaching/learning material.
- Classroom resources
- Teacher development resources
- Community and discussion forum
- Spotlight - teachers who have made a difference
- Available in 5 languages – English, Hindi, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil
These resources will be generated by teachers, teacher educators, partner organizations, education enthusiasts and members of Azim Premji Foundation. Your active participation in resource generation will play a very crucial role in making this a robust and dynamic space.
Keeping in mind the philosophy of the National Curriculum Framework, the resources strive to demonstrate an exploratory, experiential approach that ensures the active engagement of the learner. They also demonstrate good classroom practices like collaborative group work, differential learning, the respect for multiple intelligence in the classroom, continuous and comprehensive evaluation etc. The resources are sensitive to the socio-economic context of the learner and are free of any social, cultural, gender, caste or religious prejudice.
Our primary goal is to support school teachers of state-run schools, who teach in the regional languages. Therefore, we feel it is especially important to facilitate content generation and sharing in those languages. Currently we have content in four Indian languages and English. We soon hope to extend it to other Indian languages, with your continued participation. Our resources are open to all non-profit and educational efforts.
The portal is a forum for teachers to freely interact with each other across languages. It is a medium for sharing insights, good practices, resources, information and experiments in education. Resource material in textual and multimedia formats (articles, policy documents, manuals, tools, lesson plans, worksheets, activities, etc.) will also be made available on the portal.
Towards this goal, we are supported by a network of organizations across India working in the field of education. These partners and collaborating individuals form the backbone of our efforts; and you too could contribute!
