Our team is made up of a handful of people at Azim Premji Foundation and a host of partner organizations and enthusiastic individuals. And you of course!

Arun

Calm, positive, pleasant and easily approachable, Arun, the present leader of the Academics and Pedagogy team, provides academic guidance to the portal as a member of the Kannada editorial team. Arun had earlier been the head of Teacher Portal for more than a year. Arun enjoys art, music and painting. “Each of us thrives for self – development” is what Arun believes in.

Divya Choudary

Following her heart has been a priority – tempered by logic and reason. Geography, travel and the world within books are what she finds fascinating. Divya is a part of the Teacher Plus editorial team and as the editor of the English section of the portal, she selects and validates resources and collaborates with other content partners. “It’s true!” she says, about what Somerset Maugham had written on life  –  if you refuse to accept anything but the best, you very often get it. 

Jaikumar Mariappa

Sincere, friendly and outspoken Jaikumar is the editor of the Kannada section of the portal and responsible for the selection and validation of resources. He is also a poet, a writer of short stories, and the translator of a wide range of subjects from various fields and a literary critic. His other passions are cooking, photography teaching and reading world epics. He believes language should connect people instead of being a barrier and cherishes the “visva manava” culture of a  global citizen which in essence, means being a person who is not confined within the man-made walls that divide people.

Juny K Wilfred

Open, frank, rebellious and imaginative, Juny is the visual and interactive designer of the team.  A voracious reader, Juny also loves drawing, watching films, listening to music and cycling around the town. He takes his power nap in the afternoon very seriously and hardly ever misses it!

Mujahid

Mujahid is the Educational Technologist in the team who looks after the technology innovation and applications possible in the Indian education sector. He is particularly interested in mobile learning and has been involved with Mobile based projects in the past. He also works on the usability and technical aspects of the Teachers of India portal.

A theoretical practitioner and a liberal orthodox in the social technical domain, Mujahid’s hobbies include reading (not just text), cooking which follows no rules, travelling and unravelling new places and culture.

“ Be yourself, everyone else is already taken” is Mujahid’s take on life.

Nagaraju

Committed, hard-working and open to learning new things, Nagaraju is editor for the Telugu section of the Teacher portal. He also deeply interested in early childhood development and assessment. Music and philately are his other passions. Nagaraju aspires to make Teacher Portal the “Google” of education in India. His simple philosophy of life is, “ Be a reason for others to smile.”

Nirag Dave

Positive, energetic and cheerful, Nirag’s loud laughter rings through the corridors of the office and binds people together. Nirag is an expert in Yoga and likes teaching the same to others. “Believe in yourself” is a concept that Nirag  tries to live by. Nirag was the project co-ordinator for the portal. He was also looking into technical and financial aspets of the portal.

Nithin Lakshmana

Cheerful, determined and kind-hearted, Nithin is involved with the creation of learning resources, open educational resources, teacher development courses, research in schools and teacher education. His passions being travelling and cycling, Nithin keeps dreaming of taking a cycle trip around the world. “ A man is rich in proportion to the number of things he can afford to let alone” is a quotation from Henry David Thoreau that appeals to Nithin.

Pooja

Pooja Hiranandani likes to write poetry and computer code.  She is a collector of obscure Hollywood films, fine-grained nuance and ceramic mugs. In the social sector, her interests lie in child labour, education and urban poverty on which issues she has been both, raging activist and arm-chair intellectual. On the teacher’s portal, she is involved in areas of user research and technology. 'Go placidly amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence.' is a quote that inspires Pooja.

Radha

 

Cheerful. pleasant and accessible, Radha is a good listener.  She is light hearted and believes in giving the best of herself in whatever she does - at work or play.  When not caught up in work deadlines, Radha relaxes with photography, music, films, worli/tribal art, stand-up comedy and theatre. Radha was the head of the Educational Technology and Design team. In this capacity she was instrumental in launching  the Teachersofindia.org portal, a flagship initiative at the University Resource Center.

Rajesh Utsahi

As the editor of the Hindi section of the Portal team, Rajesh selects, validates and creates content and collaborates with other content partners. He is a person with a scientific perspective and critical thinking. Rajesh had edited Chakmak, (a publication of Eklavya ) as well as “Gullak” and “Palash”, the two magazines of the Dept. of Education, Madhya Pradesh, in the past. He hadeen a resource person for Nalanda, Room to read and the Department of Education, Madhya Pradesh government. He lives in search of his mission in life.

Rajkishore

Adaptive and frank, Rajkishore describes himself as a “free radical”. As a subject matter expert Rajkishore creates and validates resources for the portal. He has been a science communicator in the world’s largest mobile science exhibition train, through which he travelled all over India, popularizing science through hands-on activities and demonstrations. His hobbies are trekking, making anagrams and reading. He can also watch the silliest of movies a number of times. “Doer alone learneth” is what he believes in.

RamG Vallath

RamG Vallath as he is known loves life. He brings with him years of experience in the corporate world and the real world. He is passionate about education. In his spare time, when he is not solving math or physics  problems, he is reading up on history or mythology. He loves to tell absurd and wacky stories to children and has recently become a published author. He heads the publications team.

Ramnik Mohan

Ramnik is a part of the Editorial Team of the Hindi Section of the Teachers’ Portal. He identifies (and occasionally creates) resources for the Portal, and validates, translates, edits the identified resources in tune with the standards expected of the Portal. With a doctoral degree in English Literature, Ramnik taught in a college for about 25 years before seeking voluntary retirement to seek pastures new. Socially committed to progressive causes and a fervent advocate of people-to-people contact between India and Pakistan, he has been working in this arena for quite some years now. He has also worked with Total Literacy Campaigns, edited a quarterly magazine of the State Resource Centre, Haryana for over 10 years and, been associated with institutions such as ‘Digantar’ in the field of education. ‘Work to the best of your ability, and move on’ is what he believes in.

Ravi Babu

Ravi Babu is the confident and optimistic “technical problem solver”of the team. He is involved with the creation of websites as well as creating static and animated graphics. His hobbies include listening to Illayaraja’s music, watching old movies from the ‘80s and the ‘90s, reading and playing chess. Being self-motivated,  Ravi Babu works hard and likes a sound sleep in the weekend.  "To err is human, to really foul things up you need a computer" is Ravi Babu’s humorous take on technology!

Sankaran

Innovative and creative, Sankaran is the editor of the Tamil section. As the translator and validator, he likes to select resources which are out of the box. He also likes posting the latest developments in language, science and technology. His hobbies include writing poems, allegorical short stories, articles both in English and Tamil. He has also been the editor of two magazines, “E-touch” (English)and “Vaaimai” (Tamil). He believes,  “Fliers must not be caged”.

Sriparna

Imaginative and rebellious, Sriparna is a subject matter expert in the team. She creates resources, helps in documentation and collaborates with content partners. She likes reading, writing poetry, travelling, films, music and food (for the body and the soul). "For as this appalling ocean surrounds the verdant land, so in the soul of man there lies one insular Tahiti, full of peace and joy, but encompassed by all the horrors of the half known life” is a quotation from Herman Melville that appeals to her. 

Usha

Passionate, committed and open minded, Usha is the Editor of teacher Plus, which looks after the English Language section of the Teachers of India portal. A mother, mentor, manager and home-maker, Usha loves writing, reading, films, word-games and travelling. “I am forgetful to a fault but committed to not forgetting”, says Usha about one of her traits. "If you don’t have the strength to impose your own terms upon life, then you must accept the terms it offers you" is her firm belief.
