Making Ganitmala

Ganitmala is a manipulative version of number line. It is a proportional material that has properties of both groupable and pre-grouped models. Jodo Gyan (https://jodogyan.org/) introduced them in India.

It can be used for introducing whole numbers and all four operations - addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. It can also be used for the division algorithm to find the HCF!

Catchers are useful for speeding up multiplication and division. Two possible ways of making low-cost catchers are included.

Ganitmala can be extended to double ganitmala to model the entire number line including the negative integers. This double ganitmala can be used to introduce integers and to do addition-subtraction with them. It can also be used to solve a range of linear equations in one variable!
